BACKGROUND

In 2018, the design team led a series of community focus groups to help inform the program and design of Oasis@Bartlett.

Responses in 2018 overwhelmingly pointed toward the need for a space that would be flexible enough to accommodate a diverse range of artistic programs, that all users feel welcome, and that the space would facilitate dialogue between users and artists.

Ultimately, this first round of community input shaped the current mission of the project: honor and amplify the creative community in Roxbury by creating a park that celebrates historical and contemporary modes of artistic production and creative gathering.
